Ceramic Coating in Pacifica — Installed in Your Driveway

Nothing about Pacifica is gentle on clear coat. Wind, salt, sand, and permanent damp all work on the same panels at the same time. Here is what your car is actually up against between washes:

• Salt spray, not just salt air: sustained onshore wind carries ocean spray inland over Linda Mar, Rockaway Beach, and Pedro Point, and it settles on cars well east of Highway 1
• It never dries out: the marine layer keeps hoods and roofs damp for days, so salt stays in solution and keeps working on unprotected clear coat instead of sitting there inert
• Fog minerals: when fog does burn off, the moisture evaporates and leaves mineral spotting baked into horizontal panels
• Sand: Linda Mar is a major beginner surf break, so sand ends up in door jambs, on seats, and on the paint — and a towel over dry sand is how coastal cars get scratched
• Wind-driven grit: strong sustained wind drives fine sand and road grit at the paint all year, especially on the Highway 1 stretch through Sharp Park and Vallemar

Wax is a sacrificial layer measured in weeks, and Pacifica burns through it faster than anywhere else we work. Salt water, constant damp, and wind-driven grit strip a wax coat quickly, and the moment it's gone, salt is bonding directly to your clear coat again. A ceramic coating is a different thing entirely: it cures into a hard, chemically resistant layer rated in years — 2–3 years at the base tier, 6 years on the System X Pro+ tier. Salt sits on the coating instead of working on bare clear coat. Fog moisture beads and sheds instead of sitting long enough to etch minerals in. Sand rinses off a slick surface with far less contact, which means fewer scratches from drying and wiping. Out here a coating isn't a cosmetic upgrade — it's the most practical protection coastal paint can get.

We would rather you buy this with clear eyes. A coating is chemical and UV protection, not armor, and anyone telling you otherwise on the coast is selling you something:

• It does not stop rock chips. Highway 1 throws grit and gravel at speed, and a coating is microns thick — it has no impact resistance
• It does not remove or hide deep scratches. Anything past the clear coat needs correction or paint, and a coating seals in whatever is underneath — which is exactly why a 1-step correction is included in every tier
• It is not self-cleaning and it does not replace washing. Salt film still builds up on a coated car in Pacifica. The difference is that it rinses off instead of bonding and etching
• It is not scratch-proof. Bad wash technique still swirls coated paint, and dragging a towel across dry sand still leaves marks
• It does not eliminate maintenance. It makes maintenance fast and low-risk instead of a fight

Every tier includes a 1-step paint correction before the coating goes on. That machine-polishing pass pulls out most existing swirls and salt-dulled haze, so we're sealing corrected paint rather than locking in defects. If your car needs more than one step, we'll tell you before we start — a 2-step correction runs $799 and a multi-stage is $1,199.

You don't drive over the hill and lose a day. We come to you, the car stays in your driveway or garage, and we handle everything on site. Here's the sequence:

• Foam wash, iron remover, and clay bar strip salt film, embedded fallout, and sand from every panel
• 1-step machine correction — included in every tier — removes swirls and the dull haze salt leaves behind
• Alcohol wipe-down pulls off polishing oils so the coating bonds directly to clean clear coat
• Coating goes on panel by panel and gets leveled and checked under our own lighting, which matters when Pacifica hands us flat gray fog instead of usable daylight
• We register the coating with the manufacturer, then walk you through the cure-period rules — the first stretch is the one time the marine layer genuinely works against us, so we plan the day around the forecast and will reschedule rather than rush a bad install
