Terms of Service
Golden Bay Detailing · Effective February 1, 2026
These are the terms you agree to when you book a detail, a paint correction, or a ceramic coating with us. We have written them in plain English so there are no surprises on either side. If anything here is unclear, text or call us before you book and we will walk you through it.
Agreement to these terms
Golden Bay Detailing (“Golden Bay,” “we,” “us”) is a mobile car detailing company based in San Francisco, California. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to every quote, booking, and service we provide, whether you book online, by text, by phone, or through our booking platform.
By booking or accepting a service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, that you own the vehicle or are authorized by its owner to have it serviced, and that you agree to these Terms. If you are booking for someone else (a family member, an employer, a house manager, a fleet), you confirm you have their authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.
Your booking confirmation and these Terms together make up our agreement. If a fleet or commercial account has a separate signed agreement with us, that agreement controls where the two conflict.
Bookings made by phone, text, or in person
Not every booking is made through our online booking page. If you book by phone, text, WhatsApp, email, social media, or in person, and we create the appointment for you in our booking system, these Terms apply to that booking exactly as if you had read and accepted them online.
By confirming the appointment in any way (for example replying to our confirmation text, paying a deposit, giving us access to the vehicle, or letting our technician start work), you agree to all of these Terms, including the cancellation policy, the pricing terms, and the partner contractor terms. The same applies when someone books on your behalf, such as a family member, assistant, house manager, or fleet coordinator.
Our booking confirmation includes a link to this page. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, tell us before your appointment and we will cancel it at no charge.
What we provide
We provide mobile detailing at your home, workplace, or another location you choose: exterior and interior detailing, deep interior cleaning, paint correction, ceramic coating, and the related services described on goldenbaydetailing.com. Each package includes the work described on its service page at the time you book. Anything not listed (for example engine bay cleaning, headlight restoration, odor treatment, or an extra stage of paint correction) is an add-on that we agree on with you, with a price, before we do it.
We arrive self-contained with our own water and power. Service descriptions, durations, and prices on the website are a guide and may change; the quote we confirm for your booking is what applies to your appointment.
Who performs the work
Most appointments are performed by Golden Bay Detailing’s own technicians. To serve every booking on time, some jobs may be completed by a vetted partner contractor: an independent detailing professional we have screened, trained on our process and checklist, and hold to the same standards as our own team.
By booking, you agree that your service may be performed by a partner contractor. Golden Bay Detailing remains your single point of contact for scheduling, questions, and any concerns, and these Terms, including our 48-Hour Spotless Guarantee, apply to work done by a partner contractor exactly as they apply to work done by our own technicians. Partner contractors are independent businesses, not our employees.
Quotes and pricing
Our prices depend on the size class of your vehicle (sedan, SUV, truck, van, and so on) and on its condition. A quote is based on the information and photos you give us. If your vehicle turns out to be materially different from what was described (for example a larger size class, heavy pet hair, sand, mold or mildew, biohazards such as bodily fluids, smoke residue, heavy staining, or an interior that is excessively soiled or cluttered), we will tell you the adjusted price or the extra time required before we begin, and you can accept or decline. If you decline before work begins, you owe nothing for the service, but the no-show fee (50% of the quoted price) may apply when the vehicle’s condition was materially different from what you described.
Once we agree on a price and start the work, that price is fixed unless you ask for additional work. There are no travel fees inside our standard service area (San Francisco, the Peninsula, and Marin, as listed on our website). For locations outside that area, any travel charge is quoted and confirmed before you book. Promotional prices apply only to the service and period stated, cannot be combined with other offers, and may be withdrawn at any time before you book. Most bookings require no deposit; if a deposit is required for a particular service, it will be stated when you book.
Booking, arrival windows, and timing
Your booking time is the start of a one hour arrival window, not an exact minute. A 12:00 PM booking means we will arrive between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. Traffic, parking, and the job before yours vary, and the window is what keeps every appointment on the day realistic. We will text you when we are on the way.
If we are running late beyond your arrival window, we will let you know as soon as we can. If the delay means we could not complete your service properly that day, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the appointment. We will notify you as soon as we know, you will not be charged any fee, and any deposit is applied to the new appointment or refunded, whichever you prefer.
Service durations are estimates. A full detail typically takes three to five hours and a coating four to six, but heavily soiled vehicles and paint that needs more correction can take longer, and we would rather finish the job properly than rush it. Please plan for the vehicle to be unavailable for the whole estimated time plus a margin.
Cancellations, rescheduling, and no-shows
We reserve a technician, a van, and a block of the day for you (a full day for ceramic coating and paint correction), so we ask for notice if plans change. The fees below apply to every service.
- Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your arrival window: no charge.
- Less than 24 hours notice: a late-cancellation fee of 50% of the quoted price.
- No-show: if we arrive and cannot do the work (the vehicle is not there, we cannot get access or keys, the location is unsafe or not permitted, or you decline the adjusted price for a vehicle that is materially different from what you described), the fee is 50% of the quoted price, and we may ask for prepayment to rebook.
If a deposit was collected, it is applied toward these fees. You authorize us to charge these fees to the card on file with our booking platform. If we need to cancel or move your appointment (weather, illness, a vehicle breakdown, running late from an earlier job, an emergency), we will reschedule you as early as possible, you will not be charged any fee, and any deposit is applied to the new appointment or refunded, whichever you prefer.
Weather
We work outdoors, in the Bay Area’s microclimates. Rain, high wind, extreme heat, or heavy fog can make some services impossible to do properly, and paint correction and ceramic coating in particular need a dry vehicle and a dry environment to bond and cure. If the forecast puts the result at risk, we may reschedule your appointment or the affected part of it, with no fee to you. A garage, carport, or covered spot often lets us proceed when the weather is marginal, so tell us if one is available.
Your location and access
You choose where we work, and you are responsible for making sure we are allowed to work there. We need a legal parking spot with roughly six feet of clearance around the vehicle, level enough to work safely, where detailing is permitted by the property owner, HOA, building management, or garage operator. Any parking, garage, or permit fees required to work at your location are your responsibility.
Please have the vehicle accessible at the start of your window, with keys available to us or to a person on site. If the vehicle is inside a garage or gated area, arrange access in advance. We may move the vehicle a short distance to reach a suitable working spot. When you leave keys with us, we keep the vehicle locked whenever we are not actively working in it and return the keys as agreed.
Vehicle condition and pre-existing damage
Before we start, we walk around your vehicle and photograph its condition, including any existing damage. These photos protect both of us. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, wear, or defects, or for conditions that were hidden under dirt and become visible once the vehicle is clean, such as scratches, swirl marks, rock chips, etching, faded or oxidized paint, peeling clear coat, and previous repairs or repaint.
Some materials are fragile with age or exposure, and normal, careful detailing can reveal or advance their failure. This includes weak or previously repainted paint, failing clear coat, brittle or sun-damaged plastics, loose trim, badges and emblems, aging or aftermarket paint protection film, tint and vinyl wraps, cracked or worn leather, sagging headliners, and deteriorating rubber seals. We use the gentlest method that will do the job, but we cannot guarantee such materials against damage, and we are not responsible for damage caused by their pre-existing condition.
Please tell us before your appointment about anything we should know: known electrical issues, water leaks, sensors or aftermarket electronics, a convertible top, prior paint work, protection film, wraps, or anything else unusual. We may decline or limit work on a vehicle if we believe it cannot be done safely.
Interior work, stains, and odors
We will always do our best, but not every stain or odor can be removed. Dye transfer, bleach spots, ink, permanent marker, set-in stains, smoke, and mold or mildew may be permanent or may need repeated treatments, and we cannot guarantee complete removal. We are not responsible for the color-fastness of fabric or leather that has previously been dyed, conditioned, or treated with other products.
Child safety seats: we do not remove or reinstall child seats, and we are not responsible for the installation of any seat you remove and reinstall yourself. If you want the area beneath a child seat cleaned, please remove the seat before we arrive.
Hazardous conditions: we may decline, stop, or reprice work on a vehicle with mold, rodent or insect infestation, bodily fluids, needles, or other biohazards. Any such work we do agree to is charged as an add-on.
Paint correction and ceramic coating
Paint correction removes defects by leveling a very small amount of clear coat. That removal is permanent, so we measure paint thickness and run a test spot first, and we will not remove more clear coat than we consider safe. Defects deeper than what can be safely removed (deep scratches, rock chips, etching through the clear coat, and failing paint) cannot be corrected by polishing and will be pointed out rather than chased. Results depend on the condition and thickness of your paint, and the level of correction is agreed before we start.
Ceramic coatings continue to cure after we leave. Keep the vehicle dry for the first day if you can, and do not wash, scrub, or apply any product to it for 10 to 14 days; after that, wash it as often as you like. We are not responsible for defects caused by washing, contamination, or damage during the cure window. Coating durability depends on maintenance, and the warranty on eligible coatings, including what it covers, the yearly inspection that keeps it active, and what voids it, is set out on our Ceramic Coating Warranty page, which forms part of these Terms for coating customers.
Personal items and valuables
Please remove valuables, cash, documents, electronics, and personal items from the vehicle before your appointment. We are not responsible for loss of or damage to items left inside. Belongings we need to move will be set aside carefully, and we will clean around items that cannot reasonably be moved. A vehicle with a large amount of loose belongings may be charged for the extra time, or we may clean around them.
If we find a firearm, a weapon, or anything illegal, we will stop work immediately, leave the item where it is, and the no-show fee applies.
Our 48-Hour Spotless Guarantee
If you find a missed area, a leftover fingerprint, or a swirl we should have removed within 48 hours of your service, text or email us a photo and we will come back and fix it at no charge.
This is our promise for the scope of work you booked. It does not cover new dirt, later damage, defects outside the scope of the package, or conditions described in these Terms as not guaranteed (permanent stains, pre-existing damage, defects that cannot be safely corrected). Our first remedy is to correct the work. Refunds are at our discretion and are considered only after we have had a reasonable chance to make it right. Concerns raised after 48 hours will still be heard, but we cannot promise a free return visit.
If something goes wrong
We are insured, and we take care of every vehicle as if it were ours. If you believe we damaged your vehicle, let us know within 48 hours of the service, before the vehicle is repaired, washed, or otherwise altered, so we can inspect it and compare it with our pre-service photos.
If we caused the damage, we will make it right, either by fixing it ourselves or by paying a reasonable repair cost that we have approved in advance. We do not reimburse repairs you arrange without giving us the chance to inspect and agree on the fix first, and we are not responsible for damage reported after the vehicle has been repaired or altered.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law:
- Our total liability to you for any claim connected with a service is limited to the amount you paid for that service.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, such as loss of use of the vehicle, rental car or transportation costs, diminished value, or lost income or business.
- We are not liable for pre-existing conditions, for the conditions and materials these Terms describe as not guaranteed, or for damage caused by not following the care instructions we give you.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Payment
Payment is due when the service is completed unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. We accept card payment through our booking platform and any other methods we confirm at booking. By booking with a card on file, you authorize us to charge that card for the agreed price of the service, any add-ons you approved, and any fees described in these Terms.
Invoiced and fleet accounts are due within 15 days of the invoice date. If you dispute a charge, contact us first so we can resolve it. We may treat a chargeback on a charge you authorized as an unpaid balance and pursue it, including reasonable collection costs where the law allows.
Our right to refuse or stop service
We may refuse, stop, or reschedule a service if the working conditions are unsafe, the location is not permitted or not legal, the vehicle contains hazardous materials or an infestation, we believe the work cannot be done without damaging the vehicle, or a technician is treated abusively. If we stop after starting, you pay for the work completed up to that point.
Photos and marketing
We photograph vehicles before, during, and after service to document condition and results. We may use before-and-after photos and video of your vehicle in our marketing, including our website and social media. We do not show license plates, faces, addresses, or anything else that identifies you unless you agree. If you would prefer we not use images of your vehicle in marketing, tell us at booking or at any time and we will honor it.
Texts, calls, and email (SMS terms)
When you book, we will text and email you about your appointment: confirmations, on-the-way notices, reminders, follow-ups, and a review request. Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Details of what we collect and how we use it are in our Privacy Policy.
Quote and booking texts. If you tick the box to receive texts about your quote, or give us your number to book, Golden Bay Detailing will text you about that quote and appointment: your price, open dates, scheduling, on-the-way notices and service follow-up.
Offer texts. Only if you separately opt in, we may also text occasional offers, which may be sent using automated technology — up to 4 messages a month.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time and HELP for help, or text or call (415) 483-5686. Consent to texts is never a condition of purchase. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. If we have a disagreement, please contact us first; almost everything can be resolved with a conversation, and we will work in good faith to resolve any complaint within 30 days. Any dispute that cannot be resolved this way will be brought in the state courts located in San Francisco County, California, including small claims court where eligible.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date, and the version in effect when you book applies to that booking.
