Machine Polishing That Comes to Your Foster City Driveway

Paint correction in Foster City starts at $399 with Golden Bay Detailing. We are an owner-led mobile crew based in San Francisco, and we do the whole job at your home — Edgewater Isle, Marlin Cove, Sea Colony, Isle Cove, Harbor Side, and every street on the lagoons. A 1-step correction is $399 and takes 3-5 hours. A 2-step is $799 for deeper defects. Multi-stage work is $1,199 for a show-car finish. Foster City is inside our standard service area, so there is no travel fee.

Foster City paint has one problem that stands above the rest: waterfowl. The lagoons and the Bay shoreline keep geese, gulls, and ducks over every parking spot in town, and bird droppings are acidic. On a hot panel they start etching the clear coat within hours. You wash the mess off and the etch ring is still there, a dull circle you can see from ten feet away. That is a polishing job, not a wash job.

Every correction starts with an honest inspection under proper lighting. Correction works inside your clear coat — it cannot fix anything that has gone through it, and every pass permanently removes a small amount of clear coat. If your car does not need correction, or needs a body shop instead, we tell you before you spend a dollar. Text us photos and you get an exact number in minutes.

Why Foster City Paint Needs Correction More Than Most

Foster City was built on engineered fill along the Bay and laid out around a ring of residential lagoons. That design is great to live on and hard on clear coat. Here is what we actually see on cars here.

    • Bird droppings, constantly. Geese, gulls, and ducks work the lagoons and the outer levee along the Bay Trail all year. Uric acid softens clear coat fast, and in direct sun the etch sets in a matter of hours. Light etch rings polish out with a 1-step. Deeper ones need a 2-step. If a dropping sat long enough to go through the clear coat, no polish will bring that spot back — that is paint work, and we will say so.
    • Full sun, all day. The terrain is flat, open, and engineered — no hills to throw shade, and open water on nearly every side. Cars parked in driveways, guest spots, and the Metro Center lots bake from morning to evening, which speeds up every etch and every water spot that lands on them.
    • Wind-driven grit off the Bay. The wind comes straight across the water with nothing to break it. Fine grit lands on horizontal panels, and the next quick wipe-down drags it across the paint. That is where a lot of the swirl pattern on Foster City cars comes from.
    • Brackish Bay salt haze. It is milder than the open-ocean salt on the coast side in Pacifica, but it is still corrosive and it still leaves a bonded film that has to be chemically decontaminated before anything gets polished.
    • Cars that are worth correcting. This is commuter-car country with real driveways and garages, and owners who keep resale in mind. Well-kept paint with etch rings and light swirls is exactly the case where a 1-step pays for itself.

    The Honest Assessment Comes First

Before a pad touches your car, we inspect the paint under proper lighting, measure clear-coat thickness, and run a test spot. That tells us how much correction the paint can safely take. Two things follow from it. First, we will tell you when correction is not worth it — if the etching is light enough that a good decontamination and a coat of protection gets you most of the way there, we would rather sell you the cheaper job. Second, we do not promise to remove everything. Correction only removes defects that live in the clear coat. Anything that has gone through the clear coat — a deep bird-dropping etch, a scratch your fingernail catches hard in, a chip down to primer — cannot be polished out, and we will point at it and tell you that on the spot rather than after we have your money. It is also worth knowing that every correction permanently removes a small amount of clear coat, and it never grows back. That is why we polish as little as the job needs, not as much as the machine can do, and why we do not recommend correcting the same car over and over.

Correction Levels and Pricing in Foster City

Three levels, priced by how deep the damage goes. Most Foster City daily drivers with etch rings and light swirls land at 1-step. Dark paint with older, deeper etching usually earns the 2-step. Prices are for correction at your home, and there is no travel fee here.

What a Correction Day Looks Like at Your House

You need a driveway, garage, or legal street spot with room to walk around the car. That is the whole requirement. Plan to be around at the start for the assessment — after that, most Foster City customers get on with their day while we work.

    • We arrive with everything: our own water, our own power, professional lighting, and the machines. You supply nothing.
    • Wash and decontamination first — clay and iron removal to pull the Bay salt haze and bonded grit off the paint, so we are polishing paint instead of grinding debris into it.
    • Inspection, clear-coat readings, and a test spot to pick the right pad-and-polish combination for your paint's hardness.
    • Machine polishing panel by panel, checked under lights as we go. Etch rings get treated individually, since they rarely sit at the same depth across a hood.
    • A straight walkthrough at the end: what came out, what did not, and what it will take to keep it looking this way.

Correct It Once, Then Coat It

Correction is the prep. It resets the paint, but it does nothing to stop the next goose. A ceramic coating is what preserves the work — a hard, chemical-resistant layer that gives acidic droppings something to sit on other than your clear coat, and gives you more time to get them off before they do damage. It will not make your car bird-proof, but on a coated hood a dropping that would have etched bare clear coat in an afternoon usually rinses off clean. Our coatings are $799 for a 2-3 year package, $1,499 for the 6-year System X Pro+, and $2,499+ for System X Max, with SUVs and trucks adding $200 on any tier. A 1-step paint correction is already included in every ceramic tier, so if you are choosing between a standalone polish and a coating, the coating usually wins the math. Muza is System X certified, and he will walk you through exactly what each tier covers before you book.

    Foster City Paint Correction FAQs

    Need More Than Paint Work?

Correction handles the clear coat and nothing else. If the interior has taken the same beating from sun and Bay grit, we run full mobile detailing across Foster City too — exterior details at $149, mini details at $249, and full details at $399, same van, same owner-led crew, same driveway. A common combination here is a 1-step correction plus a full detail before a sale or a lease return, so the car reads cared-for inside and out. Ask when you text us and we will price both together.
